Hair, Party Karaoke & Old Ladies

And another week is here, its my last week of not working full time, I bet he has had a ball you say, well read on and that question will be answered wont it.
Last Thursday I went, with a good friend, out as it was his birthday. I didn’t know this did you, in Borders on Charring Cross Road if you go get a book or magazine you can take it up to the Starbucks on the upper level and read it, its mad, you see people up there for ages with one cup of coffee. As ever I digress, we went for dinner at this Turkish place, its just off of Oxford Street, and I admit I was a but sceptical as envisioned lambs eye balls and such like on the menu, with a skewed goat. But it was really nice, the food is tasty and atmosphere good. I enjoyed myself immensely. And miracle to end all miracles I did not drink, well I had tea, I meant I didn’t drink any alcohol, surprisingly I had no side effects, wasn’t ill, didn’t yearn for a drink. We then went to the bar and I had just orange juice, no vodka or anything in it, was surprisingly refreshing, as was my head. Must try it more often if I am able to.
Friday I spent the day at the salon working, my first whole day of working, I didn’t collapse or anything. I am still
enjoying the work there and like the people. On Friday Errol did my hair, I have to admit that me being a big cynic did think it was all overrated and that a good hairdresser is a good hairdresser and there are no differences. Well it is not often that I am wrong, in fact its a rarity beyond belief. Well its rare I admit to being wrong I think would be a far more accurate statement!! On this occasion I will hold my hands up (not to high though, nor to fast) that I may have been slightly, over so little bit um not exactly correct. Errol cut my hair and its amazing as now I don’t need any product in it at all, I am the worlds worst stylist, yet I get out of the bath (not a pleasant image for you I am sure) and just push it and it goes straight into style. What’s even more surprising is that it stays there all day, its really cool. A happy bunny I am with my hair at last.
In the evening after work, and when P actually got there, its so far from where he works to the bloody West End, went to eat.
Okay quick interruption here (anyone who knows me will agree this is par for the course) I have to say this, I am writing this at my desk and got Boom! on whilst doing it, bloody hell its kicking and I cant sit still, typing is so hard. Its a brilliant mix this week, massive, huge, immense kudos to the fantastic Mr Chuckles.
Back to where I was we went to eat at the Malaysian place, its called Kopi Tiam and is pretty reasonably priced and the food tastes good. Well I like it there anyway.
Saturday saw us going to the West End as we had to go out and get a present for a friends birthday. I was my usual self as I hate going present shopping, would rather be buying myself things than someone else
Still it was okay I guess as got to look at quite a few things and add them to the horrendously large (and growing) list of things I want. But P did get me a really nice jumper from my favourite shop, Nigel Hall. Its really comfortable and nice and warm, goes so well with my green hooded top, I love that top. Oh yes, I was talking abut shopping for a friends present wasn’t I, how dare I digress back to me! So we found this present for him (wont say what it is as don’t want to ruin the surprise, oh wait he has it now, its a body warmer), and a cake from our favourite yummy patisserie. We then headed to a Chinese cafe where we often go and had some tea.
We had to rush home as had to get bathed (I cant go anywhere unless I have had a bath, I am such a clean and innocent
person) and changed, this sounds a really quick and easy process but takes P an age to do. We finally got out, after I had woken having fallen asleep waiting, and had to get there. Oh my god, its in Woodford, which is the countryside and about zone 55 on the tube network, not only that you have to change like twice to get there, its a nightmare, would be easier to get to Mars. But we eventually made the trek to the place and got there. I do have to (as he reads this blog) say that it was a really good evening, it was good to see our friends, though not so good to hear them singing karaoke (karaoke being a pet hate of mine, in a very long list of pet hates). Mainly its a pet hate as I cannot sing to save my rather exotic life, but o the plus side its good to see friends making a complete twat of themselves, oops I meant having a great time and enjoying themselves. I was determined not to drink, and lasted about 5 minutes then succumbed to the constant pestering of everyone saying have a drink (well I guess really it was P saying do you want a drink). So I got a little tipsy but still I maintain, stuck to my not getting drunk resolution.
Sunday was a really good day. Five and a half years ago we went on holiday, to Malaga (its in Spain) and we saw these two older ladies together, we wee convinced they were lesbians, turned out they were not. We nicknamed them ‘the ladies’ (said in a high voice et al Little Britain) and we became friends and have communicated ever since. We always say
we will meet up but never got around to it. Until Sunday when they both came to London for the day. It was supposed to be just for lunch but you know old women they were like herpes and we couldn’t shake them. Firstly we went for dim sum, which I really lie as you get to eat lots of different things, we all enjoyed it and the Ladies seemed to have a good time there, though one was so fussy that we had to keep telling her what each dish is, you would think at her age she would know what she was eating!!!! We then headed to Leicester Square for coffee as for some unknown reason they didn’t have any at the Chinese, go figure. We then had a very slow walk (the geriatrics couldn’t go too fast on their doddery legs) round St James’ and along to Waterloo where we put them on the train back to old people land
Yesterday I had my first meeting at Gieves and Hawkes. It was just for an hour but it seems really nice there. I am there tomorrow and Friday as well. I am mixed between excitement and nervousness about starting. Its been a year since I worked so guess the nerves are to be expected. But I really am looking forward to it and it sounds like it is going to be a great role, will of course let you know here next week.
As ever my highest regards to the foul mouthed but ever so lovely mother of Stan and Satan’s spawn. I shall miss our morning walks whilst she rants on about whatever trivial matter (in relation to my major issues) is niggling her tiny alcohol addled brain.
Don’t forget to subscribe to the fabulous Boom!!! I am so psyched at this weeks retro edition, its fantastic, fantastic, fantastic.
Until next week I am missing you.
TV Show, Vets & Japanese Festival

friend managed to be 15 minutes late, this is despite him not being at work that day & ironically his partner, as well as my friend & I managed despite us being at work. So its quite a feat of his to manage that, I of course restrained myself & didn’t mention it, well not too many times. The show was one of those topical shows, Jack Dee was the ‘Quiz Master’ I have always liked him so that was a good start. The teams were Lee Mack (never heard of him but he is pretty dam funny), Alan Carr (very amusing, especially to look at), some bird from Coronation Street (padding I guess), they were playing against Sean Lock (he is funny but does he do anything other than these game shows?), Jo Brand (hilarious, always laugh when she is on) & some bird from GMTV (more padding). It was funny fro the minute it started to it ended & there was one particular moment I loved, they had pictures of celebrities (so called celebrities I should say) with the slogans on their T Shirts pixelated & they had to guess what it said. One was that junkie coke head Kerry Catona’s husband, without missing a beat Jo Brand said ‘is it I am a twat?’ no said Jack Dee, straight back Jo Brand said ‘I am a cunt’ everyone without exception burst out laughing, though I have this feeling it may not make it through the editing.
problem (if your a fussy old git like I am) was that the marketing head clearly been a huge success as it was ram packed, it was really difficult to move. The other thing (that I remembered from Malaysia) about Orientals of all types is that the concept of queuing & moving in an orderly fashion is quite an alien concept to them. They push, they shove & generally make their way through the crowd with little regard for those around them. Me being me got rather flustered in this type of environment, okay truth be known I swore, moaned & made a fuss about it. In the end P found us a place that was a quiet corner in which I could stand & mutter to myself about each & every person who passed & what I thought of them. The place he had found was next to a stage where some kind of show was going on. I heard this terrible screeching, high pitched noise & looked around for a person with their balls stuck in a door or their zipper or something, but no I was mistaken, the show was a talent show, the people were singing (and believe me the term is loosely used here) in Japanese. How they got up there & actually believed that they sounded good I still cant quite fathom, but people seemed to be enjoying it, inn a wincing type of way. Don’t ask me who won it as I lost all will to live by the second performance.
is or what food he wants. On that subject we firstly went to Bayswater Road & got some food, I got crispy pork & rice which we then took to the park & sat eating it, with Milo going from chasing pigeons to coming & pestering us for scraps. We then made our way round Kensington Park & it was really nice as Milo had a great time playing with dogs, messing about, playing with us as if our only reason for being there was his entertainment. My friend is a good photographer & got some great shots of Milo, who is wasted as a dog as is extremely vain & poses like a seasoned model. We then made our way through Hyde Park, again with Milo causing havoc in as many ways as he could manage. It was great to just walk, chat with my friend (who I have to say is really awesome to spend time chatting with as very chilled, the complete opposite of the stressed & noisy person that I am), play with Milo & take it easy. Having said that I was exhausted when I got home, me thinks maybe I am growing old!!!!!!Baths & Boats
by Matt on Sep.17, 2009, under Blogs
free bath is to first of all put Milo in the bath (water coming up to his knees, do dogs have knees?), have the shampoo diluted in water in a jug on the side ready, pour some on him. Stand as far away as possible whilst holding him. Then use the water in the bath to lather the shampoo & wash him through. Then the part that always means you are going to have a wet & struggling dog on your hand. You turn on the shower & have to wash him down, this takes 2 people. My best friend holds him, best he can as Milo is prone to try & nip him at this point, anything in his bid to escape to freedom away from the deluge of water. I have to shower him down & get all the shampoo out. Then its a case of holding him in a towel so he doesn’t throw water all over the room. Such a mammoth task for such a little dog it is, but it certainly isn’t boring!!!!
sun was out, the wind was just right to provide a slight breeze, so we sat upstairs in the open. There is a commentary by the crew on the way, what we failed to realise is that its the same commentary on the way back as well, so its kind of like the BBC, you have a repeat for the second hour. Johnny took about 3000 pictures of boats & managed to get them of every angle, bet my mum is looking forward to looking through those!!!! I think the 2 tourists behind us must have been overdoing it, if just a little as at one point we looked round & they were asleep, how can you fall asleep on a noisy boat which is full of noisy tourists with a commentary coming over the loud speaker system? It was amusing though. Eating & Drinking Again

all of Milo’s stuff together ( he has more paraphernalia than a bloody footballers wife) & managed to drag my butt out to meet him it was getting on. We got on the tube but by the time we got to Tottenham Court Road the train was rammed, so heaven knows what the actual carnival was like, but we didn’t make it there. We got off at Tottenham Court Road & made our way to Soho Square to sit there. At one point I made the foolish mistake of letting Milo off of his lead, he took this to mean he could go round the park sniffing at each & everyone’s bag, wander over & annoy people at will & chew every stick in the park. But then like the angel that he is he came back when I called him, for a third time. He then sat posing for pictures!
I am afraid pictures area bit short this week as I have had a great loss this evening before I wrote this. My beloved, treasured & indispensible BlackBerry got a bit of water spilt on it & the screen has gone, I am hoping to hell that it will work again in the morning but all my pictures I have taken are on it, so alas I am having to only have a couple on this weeks entry. I only hope it does dry out as otherwise I have no idea how I will manage.
