Bars, Salon and the Usual Eating
by Matt on Mar.03, 2010, under Blogs
Ah and so an exciting instalment of my drab little existence is here for you. In fact not done too much this past week so I have a feeling that this will be a rather short one this week.
Last Thursday P and I were supposed to go to movies at 19:15 to see From Paris with Love as it was advertised on Cineworlds website. So we both rushed so we could get there on time, on our own individual routes. Excellent we made it, in we went, cool small queues as well so should make it, look up at the board, wait a minute its not there, can I have 2 for From Paris With Love I ask, no I am told its not released until tomorrow, oh I say okay then can I have two for Last Station, yes the girl says, its on at 20:30, oh gee great we are over an hour early. How annoying is that, I would have thought I read the website wrongly, lets face it with my attention span its highly likely, but P, who has a memory like a super computer (especially when we have arguments I notice) agreed that it said it on the website. So bad Cineworld are getting my hopes up then dashing them down like that.
So P and I trotted off to the local Lloyds bar (yes I know before you say it, isn’t that an expensive
Wetherspoon) and decided to have dinner there. We both chose the mixed grill, though in my defence I did look at the salad part of the menu but it was all about as appetising as one of Milo’s dog biscuits with less protein. So I compromised and had the mixed grill with side salad. Last time we had gone there I had complained, to P, (hard to believe I complain as I am such a jolly chap you know) that the food want very nice, and indeed it wasn’t. I think they must have changed the chef (would you call someone who cooks in a bar a chef or a cook? lets promote them and be pretensious shall we) as the food we had was really nice, both of us enjoyed it.

Friday was rather eventful. I was meeting a friend (the large ginger Canadian, poor boy) for a drink and for the first time ever I was late, usually, in fact most times he is late (carrying that weight around and being ginger its hardly surprising) so I was late for the first time, you would think that I was always late or like hours rather than 30 minutes (and I had text to let him know) he went on and on, a bit like I do but without the eloquence. So he instead of doing the sensible thing and going into the bar and waiting there went to Prets to get a coffee, I ask you, and refused to come to the bar as had a coffee, a great expense to waste! So fortunately P arrived at same time as me and managed to calm me down, a talent he is one of the few to possess. So off we went to Yard Bar, which was okay but nothing that really impressed, though it was nice to stand, there was nowhere to sit, nor any chair big enough, or strong enough for the Canadian, and chat and generally catch up. Our friend likes to say he is busy so we don’t catch up often, if being a couch potato is now classed as busy then he is rushed off his feet, literally, and not the sofa.
We then went to one of Ps favourite places to eat (yes Chuckles we are eating again) which is the Malaysian place in Charring Cross Road which is fantastic and does really nice food, if you like spicy food. I tend to have to eat one of two dishes as don’t really like the rest of the menu, but it is once to go there sometimes as they do a nice noodle dish there.
After which we went to the nasty Ku Bar, I felt so out of place as not only is the average age (and IQ) 12 but also everyone was in jeans and casual clothes (I have never seen so many Top Man, Uniqlo and H and M items in one place) I was there straight after work so in a suit. It was like being a teacher at a rather loud and very camp version of Grange Hill. But why were we there you ask, or shout if you were there? Our ginger friend has a new boyfriend (never has the word been less appropriate) and wanted to meet him there and for us to meet him. This did not bode well with me as the last time he introduced us to his boyfriend (his relationships last about two weeks and invariably half the reasons are he picks twink (blind ones presumable who are deaf) who have alcohol problems, mind you they would need to have one) the guy came with us to a Costco place and was drunk, in the mid morning and went on to embarrass the hell out of us both. This new one was also drunk (see a pattern emerging) and in my lowly (but right) opinion a little too old to be at Ku Bar, he is 34. So drunk and I didn’t understand what he was saying, and it was that weird situation where someone is drunk and you are not so you’re on different levels. So not a raving success that meeting, first impressions are important after all.
Saturday morning I had to walk the Rat rather quickly (much to Ts disappointment as it meant she
was deprived of my fabulous company earlier than she had eagerly anticipated) as I then had to get him to Columbia Road as it was the dreaded
time of the month, well for him, it was grooming time. So he had his shower and wash, before being dried with a massive powerful hair dryer that P would kill to be able to use, he was then clippered and his hair cut, then his nails manicured. The whole process anyone would love, being pampered and styled to look clean, fresh and pretty. But little Milo did as he usually did there stood and whined, whimpered and cried through the whole hour. He doesn’t even know why he is doing it as his tail is wagging and he is perfectly happy,. oh wait I know he isn’t getting treats and cuddles every two minutes as he usually does, how cruel of us.

I spent most of the time putting the salon Newsletter together, its something that I have been doing for the past couple of months and its coming along nicely and I am pretty happy with it. Its something that is pretty fun to do, and is a great marketing tool, and its fun to read as has interesting articles in it. I am hoping that with practice it should get better each month. Whilst I was there I also had my hair done as i6 was getting a little unruly and so Errol kindly put it all back into style and tidied it up for me.
Sunday I had a friend round in the afternoon which was good. Though he came round and had me doing the music on his phone for him, like I am some branch of iTunes for phones! but he is a nice person so its all cool.l He brought with him a cuddly toy for Milo but Milo interpreted this as, bite the hell out of it and destroy it in the least amount of time possible please. He obliged rather well and had all the insides out of the toy in a matter of minutes, such a useful talent that. We then went to the movies before my friend wanted to go home as he wasn’t feeling well, old age does that to you I believe. So in the evening P and I went to our (you know what’s coming don’t you Chuckles) favourite Chinese restaurant and had dinner, jolly tasty it was too.
I have been going to spin quite a bit again, on my ever eternal journey to lose weight and not be the size of a pregnant elephant. But hell its taking its toll on my body, where I am doing spin and bouncing on and off the saddle its making my butt pretty dam sore, not bat all pleasant, my feet are killing me (in fact I went to the chiropodist on Monday and have to have a deep rooted corn removed and am damaging the tendons in my heels, how butch does that sound? Well more painful than butch I would think). But I have to keep at it else I will continue to have masses of extra body weight.
As always I have to say hello to T, Tranny and Buzzy as if I don’t T will give me perforated ear drums from her incessant moaning, Tranny, well will just be Tranny and Buzzy will get all insecure and think no one loves her and the world doesn’t know she exists.
BOOM! there was none this week and oh how forlorn it has made me, I am beside myself with grief, not at all bouncy and the chair has been boringl;y still.
Until next week ……….
