Parents & Eating

by Matt on Jul.28, 2010, under Blogs

You need wait no longer as its Wednesday and so time for me to update this blog.

There were like four podcasts of BOOM! this week which put a bounce in my step, a dance in my chair and a spring in my well you get the message, there is also now a website for BOOM! its at www.boomination.com feel free to go have a look at what the great and mighty Chuckles has done.

Last Wednesday evening I went to the movies, to see Predators, I had really liked the original and liked the vs. Aliens ones so was looking forward to an entertaining movie. And was bitterly disappointed, its corny, predictable and stayed, not at all good. But that’s my humble opinion, you may enjoy it, if you’re bran dead and easily entertained.

Saturday saw my mum and step father descend upon us. As you will no doubt remember, especially as I am reminding you here, it was my best friends birthday last week, so Mum & Johnny had come to see him, as well as P, Milo and me of course!!!! Though I suspect in the order. It was of course fantastic to see them as I do enjoy the times that they visit. Johnny took P and I to Costco so as we could get all the things we wanted to and be able to get them home without the usual broken shoulders from the heavy bags. We then went to look at Best Buy (is that one or two words?)  I wanted to look at the cameras and P wanted to look at the food processor. The staff discount scheme for CPW use to be really good but I don’t think much of the new one at all, although P did get his food processor, Johnny bought one as well. But it was an enjoyable afternoon I have to say, well I don’t have to but will do anyway.

In the evening we all, well apart from Milo who wouldn’t be allowed to come, jumped on the boat and headed to the O2 as Dave had decided he wanted to go to Gaucho for dinner. A jolly good choice it was as well, I have to say. The wine was rather nice, though I made a mess of the order, I originally didn’t look at the menu and ordered a bottle, it turned out to be rather too expensive so when the waiter came back P bravely (next to my wimp like self) said he had changed his mind and chose a different one.  The food as always, was really nice and I had a lovely evening with people its great to be with, very nice end to the day it was.

Sunday morning was spent with Mum and Johnny which was nice, we sat and chatted and stuff after we had taken a chest of drawers from our flat to David’s as were giving to him. The rest of the day P and I just relaxed and chilled which was actually rather nice as not often I just sit and relax.

Monday lunch I met a friend for lunch at the restaurant (eating again, why do I put on weight???) at the Portrait Gallery. He was like 20 minutes late, terrible and tardy. But when we eventually sat down the view is breath taking its lovely (I must take P there as he would love it) and the service is great. They had a nice set menu and the food was really nice. I really would recommend the place, its delightful.

Was at the torture chamber for Spin on Monday evening, I had not done spin for a while (had been gym but taking it easy) as I had sprained my ankle the other week (was running down the stairs in my eagerness to get a new suit at work, I really suffer for fashion!) so it really killed me on Monday, but I have to say I hate to admit it but I do feel better for going, though not sure will feel the same way when go on Friday and half kill myself.

That my friends is for this week, my ramblings have come to a stop. See you next week xx

Buzzy at Qunity, Race for Life & Boomination!!!

by Matt on Jul.21, 2010, under Blogs

The weeks are going so fast lately, has anyone else noticed it?

This week was a cut the red ribbon week, a momentous occasion to behold. Not only do we have the amazingly fabulous and jaw droppingly excellent BOOM! to listen to now we have http://boomination.com/ to read, how cool is that. Now if only Chuckles will mention my Twitter name on the show it will be better than perfect.

Oh and what have I been doing this week you shout?

Last Wednesday I went to Quinty (now there’s a surprise venue I don’t often go to!) with Buzzy. She had kindly done some research on a project for me so we had meant to go and go through that, and we did go through it but we kept digressing, okay I admit it she kept digressing. We did have rather a good timer though, drank a little wine, she drank like a fish the alcoholic woman, well she is Scottish and there were no buckets of whiskey on hand. I was disgusted at one point as she sat there and passed wind, fortunately it passed quite quickly but I didn’t dare light a match for  a while. She clearly need a very hard and long shag. That or a peanut flavour fish cake to clear her system out.

Saturday I was at the salon, which I have to say has to be one of the best jobs I have ever had, its a pleasure to go there, Errol is great, the Salon Manager Tracy is equally great and I love the work there as well. Errol cut my hair and I usually have real problems as my styling skills are next to rubbish, in that they are worse than rubbish, but this latest cut is his best yet, he has excelled even his usual standards, am loving it. The day passed pretty quickly there but was good.

P was out when I got home so I did something that I really miss and don’t get to do as often as would like, I took Milo and just chilled in the Park. Well when I say chilled I mean as much as I can between watching where he is sticking his nose, playing ball with him as if I don’t he stands right next to me and whines (subtle he isn’t).

Sunday was the Hyde Park race for Life. P had been saying he was going to go to one with me for ages, so I never actually believed he would ever come. The main reason for this is because we have to get up at 05:30 in order to be there for 06:30, early mornings are not his best time! We cycled there and I was amazed that we were only 15 minutes late. There were over 12,000 woman on the run for this one so it was massive. I had never seen p work so hard, he really did make me proud as was working and not once complained, even though it was hot and he was having to move heavy crates etc around. We were then asked to be court marshals which he did, though whenever a cyclist needed to be asked to dismount he would get me to do it!!!! There is another one later in the year so lets see if he goes to that one as well. We finished in the early afternoon so were pretty exhausted by then as it really is hard work, but its hard work that is worth it as you feel like you are doing some good.

Yesterday it was our best friends 40th birthday, oh how old he is getting, though he is so moody and grumpy at times that you would think it was his 80th. He decided he wanted to go to Jamie Oliver’s Italian restaurant in canary Wharf, at 19:00. So I had to rush to get there from work, which isn’t easy on the bloody underground, oh how I hate the Tube, it is crowded, stuffy and too hot, you get off and its like you have been in a sauna, not at all comfortable. So anyway I did get there and it was a jolly nice evening, the food there is quite good and of course the company was excellent, as was the wine :-) It was so coincidental as we were sitting there and this blonde girl was seated at the next table, it was a girl from work, how freaky is that!

So in the words at the end of the great BOOM! that’s all folks, same time and place next week? Okay then its a date.

Nothing to Declare

by Matt on Jul.14, 2010, under Blogs

It has been so humid here in London this week, its like the tropics, without the exotic, nice food, palm trees, so just the hot and sweaty bit then!

I am afraid, though I think you will be delighted, that this is a rather short entry. All that I have done this week is to go to the movies. I saw new Twilight movie which I am loathed to confess is rather good, a lot better than the last one. Its quite a good story, well its the same story as ever, vampires want to kill the human girl so other vampires protect her. But the story runs a lot better in this one.

Been out to eat of course, now that will send shockwaves of surprise to you. Been to a Thai cafe, very yummy, the Prospect, lovely etc.

There have been a massive 4 podcasts of BOOM! Which is fantastic as I love the cast, and that Chuckles plays a great selection on there. One of the casts was for someone’s birthday, bloody liberty as I didn’t get one for my birthday.

I will try my best to do more this week so as I can regale you with my stories next week, until then have a splendid one. Hopefully will resume transmission next week…………….

Street Party & Races

by Matt on Jul.07, 2010, under Blogs

Good day to you all lovely people, have you had a  fine week? Mine has been good and bad, good when not at work bad when am :-) So lets concentrate on the good ones shall we, the bad are just boring anyway.

Last Wednesday was the Motcomb Street party, that’s where the salon is. So I invited that Little P and Buzzy along. Seen Buzzy a couple of times this week so guess she will be on this entry a bit. I met her at Harvey nics where she was carrying this backpack the size of a house, she looked like a snail with it. She is only little, though like the Tardis little but fits a lot in, believe me I know as have been to Ann Summers with her, the kinky minx. Oh yes so we met at Harvey Nics and proceeded down the avenue to Motcomb Street, which was jam packed so we went straight into the salon, and bloody good choice it was too, as the stage was directly opposite, and there was an abundance of alcohol in the salon, lots of peanuts too which I tried to force feed to Buzzy so I could video her having a fit, wanted to You Tube it and get lots of hits. Little P then came along and joined us, almost didn’t get in as he was walking through the crowds towards the door when Errol said ‘who is that trying to get in’ He really should remember who people are. Buzzy decided to be dead boring and left early, leaving more nuts for me. So P & I chatted to people and had a really good time there.

Friday saw P and I back at the (fast forward Chuckles) Prospect of Whitby for dinner. As ever it was really nice and relaxing to just sit and chat with P, I do like the time we spend together so much as its so comfortable.

Saturday I was at the salon ion the morning which was cool as ever and rather enjoyable. It was London Pride so P and I were supposed to go to that so I left the salon early, but by the time P arrived in the West End (he was busy at home in the morning) he didn’t feel like going to Pride well that and the fact I had moaned and whined all morning about why can Milo go with us. So instead we went round the shops, he wanted to look at house ware places for towels etc and of course he wanted to look in clothes shops, so he dragged me round loads of shops just to end up buying one T Shirt!!!!! We then headed to James Street as wanted to go to Grand Bazaar which does amazing Turkish food, jolly nice it was too.

Sunday was race for Life time again, this time at Blackheath. So I was up at 05:30, yes in the morning not afternoon. I had decided to cycle there as its not too far from the flat, what I didn’t know was one side of the Greenwich foot tunnel had no lift service so had to carry bike up. Still I managed to get to the event are in good time. It was blazing hot and there were two races, one at 10:30 and one at 14:00 so it was most definitely a long day, and all of it was working and in the sun, so no time to eat or rest. I didn’t finish until 16:45 and was exhausted by that point, and still cycled home. But it was a really fun day as the atmosphere at the events is really good and its a great vibe going on. It really does make you feel a whole lot better that you’re giving up your time and, hopefully, doing some good. But when I got home I was almost dead, I went to have a bath, and nearly died from shock, I had got amazingly tanned due to being in the sun all day but the humiliation, it was a benidorm tan from where I had my T Shirt on all day, I now have to find a way to even it out a bit.

Yesterday evening I had the imponderable pleasure of meeting up with young Emma. We began by going to this bar called Adam and Eve which was rather pleasant, I liked it there, though it was full of people from Emma’s offices which she and her friend (a delightful lady called Jules, went to school with Tom Wisdom, the lucky cow) found unnerving for a while,. Then her friend went home and we headed to Quintessentially which as you all know I rather like and find very pleasant.

Boom has been amazing, well it always is but even more so last week, why you ask how can perfection be improved upon, easy Chuckles, the Frisbee Bisbee, has mentioned me that’s how, I am at last famous. Now a few more mentions wouldn’t go a miss. But seriously make sure you download the free podcast, its surreal how amazingly bopping and jigging it is.

Next week? Okay see you then…
