Drinks, Fish & Chips & Great Birthday

by Matt on Jan.13, 2010, under Blogs

So here we are again, sitting down with a coffee and snack to read my inane ramblings?
May I begin by saying that I did see Chuckles comment on last weeks blog, and have replied to him, but for anyone else who is blind, or just plain dumb, can I inform you that if you wish to know which movie I saw when I mention I went to movies then low and behold you should notice there is a tab at the top of this page called ‘Movies’ the clue is in the title!!!! So onwards we go, with my list of where I have eaten!!!!
Coincidentally that’s exactly where this weeks events do start. Last Wednesday evening we were supposed to go for a drink, with our favourite tranny, but P didn’t feel like going drinking. And so we arranged to go and eat with her. We headed to Canary Wharf, can you believe there was P & I in our wellingtons, scarf’s etc all dressed for the snow and cold that we had, and out came Tranny, in bloody flat shoes, talk about sacrificing for fashion. Anyway we managed to get there without her falling over, which would I feel have provided some entertainment, and went to Wagamama for dinner. Sitting eating our food and chatting we were when this little camp waiter came up and started talking to the tranny, you really cant take her anywhere. On the plus side she wasn’t farting thanks heavens.
Friday I was off work and so made a concerted effort to start going to the torture chamber again. Oh my god I still hate going and whatever exercise I am doing I am longing time to move faster so that its time to get the hell out of there. But I must admit it wasn’t as hard to get back into it as I thought it would be. So on with my circuit I got and felt rather better for it after I had finished. I have also kept it up over the weekend so am hoping that I am now back in the tedious routine of going so may lose a bit of the mass of excess weight I have gained stuffing my face over the festive period.
In the evening P surprised me by taking me to our favourite Chinese (yes Chuckles we are back to food) down in Wapping, it was a really good time as not only was the place quite quiet, so we could chat in peace but also another couple there were having quite a heated talk so we amused ourselves watching them.
Sunday we had arranged to meet our friend in the west end, its always good to see her as we have a good buzz, well she does. P hadn’t seen her for a while as last time we met up he was working. We met at a bar in Leicester Square and ordered drinks and some chips, to munch on (I guess that’s kind of obvious isn’t it, not like we were going to write a book with them) but they were not very nice at all, it wasn’t helped by the waitress dropping the mayo all over the table. So we sat and chatted, it was nice to see that she was talking about a whole range of topics with us rather than how can she get a man. But we have agreed to go on a speed dating thing with her one day as I am not convinced that she is going about this man hunt (where men really are prey) in the correct way. I am beginning to think maybe a turkey bester would be a good investment for her :-)
After the bar we headed to China Town to eat before going onto Friendly Society, oh how I do like that place, and we actually got good seats for a change, it was rather early I have to say. So we sat, we chilled, we chatted. It seems she has taken my advice on board as she wasn’t constantly scanning the room, a bit like a CCTV in a rather down market pound shop, looking for men to lure. Quite a good job really as it was a gay bar! But for all my teasing it is always a delight to see the wee little lady as she is lovely. She moves next week to Putney so it will be difficult to see her, we all know there are no underground trains south and cabs wont go there, also my minders wont dare venture south. Still am sure we can try to get there somehow.
After I had been to Torture on Monday I decided that it had been a long time since I had fish and chips, after my attempt on New Years eve to go get some. So I called our best friend up and said I was going to walk with Milo up the canal, round Victoria Park and to the fish and chip shop, oh I want to come he says. So I get my coat, scarf, gloves and thermal long Johns on, wrap the little rat up in his parka and off we go. The canal was frozen over and Rat Boy found it highly amusing to almost give me a heart attack by going on the ice to see what it was and could he eat it. It was nerve racking as each time he jumped on I was convinced he was going to fall through it. So we had to make sure that he wasn’t allowed near the canal but stayed to the right of it. Then my friend started whining about how he was cold and why we walking so far and cant we walk faster, so much for the northerners being immune to cold weather. When we eventually got to the fish and chip shop, which was open that day, I asked the friend to go in as they wouldn’t let Milo in, bloody gits that they are. He came out and handed the carton to me, and to my dismay the chips were only luke warm, are you seeing the bad luck I had with chips the past week? So in the shop I went (leaving a distraught Milo with my friend, distraught not because of cold or me walking away but because the chips were walking away with me) and said to the server that the chips were only luke warm, I am guessing that English is not her first language as she didn’t understand what I meant until I said ‘they are not hot’. What is happening when someone who has direct contact with customers cant understand English, in a bloody fish and chip shop for heavens sake. Anyway I got fresh ones then on the bus we got to go home, with a moaning friend in tow and a jumping Rat attempting to get chips.
Tuesday was pretty quiet, well quiet in the sense I didn’t have too many plans, on the other hand it was rather noisy, T had very kindly said she will come with me to get some fish (not the edible type, well I suppose they are if you’re a cat, but then you wouldn’t be reading this would you as you would be scared away reading about Milo) she couldn’t find anything to get me for my birthday (I cant se why as I am not at all fussy and am easily pleased!!!) so wanted to get a couple of fish. I had at this point better give some background before you think why the hell would anyone think of that. I had told her that after my last fish died I was changing the aquarium to a cold water one and putting those lovely Chinese (they don’t it turns out speak Cantonese so cant order food for me) goldfish in it. We went to the shop and spent quite some time getting the fish, and a couple of rocks, and I am loving the fish, they are so cool, so a massive thank you to T.
Yesterday was my birthday and I have to say that P often shows just how good he is to me & how lucky I am but yesterday he excelled himself. We chilled in the morning, literally as I took the Rat out in the freezing cold. Then we got ready and he hadn’t told me what we were doing (how he managed to keep it all a secret and from me is astounding as I generally am so nosey that I find things out, also I have this ability to nag, and nag and moan until he gives in and tells me) so we went off to the bus stop, where we met T, Tranny and the lady that drinks bloody Martini (thankfully we were not embarrassed as she has, wisely, switched to Vodka) so that was nice. We went to Covent Garden and to a really nice fish restaurant, it is really nice and the food was really good (few too many ‘really’ there?) I would definitely go again. They told me we were going to see Dirty Dancing at the theatre, so me being ever grateful was saying ‘why, do you think I want to see that, would have preferred Oliver’ gracious to the end I am. So whilst I was going on about this Martini and T were calling me lots of colourful names (I believe they were talking in Cockney).
P led us to Leicester Square, well his sense of direction isn’t always that great so he said we needed to get the tickets from there and how do we get there so I led the way (T, Martini & Tranny too busy acting like old women and talking about whatever women talk about). When we got to Leicester Square  led us to a karaoke place where you hire a room. I will be the first to admit I though ‘what the fuck’ (see I can speak cockney too sometimes) and ‘why’ but then one by one my friends turned up, the whole cast of my blog in fact: our best friend, the ginger Canadian (poor guy), farter in cinemas, buzzy, T, Martini, Tranny. It was fantastic and I had a great time, after the initial shock of going to a karaoke place it was brilliant of P and he surpassed himself, he had arranged it all and got this fabulous cake from a shop I always wanted to try. So I had an awesome birthday evening and would like to publically here thank P for all the work he put in to make it special. And a thank you to those who came, I am grateful, it was such a great evening.
I have been miserable this week as there has been no BOOM!! Withdrawal, cold turkey, longings, yearnings for the bouncy beats have been coursing through my system and I have been left destitute without it. So go subscribe as the more of us that get to enjoy the ecstatic sounds the more pressure Chuckles has to get his bony American (aww poor love) ass into the studio.
With the snow on the ground little Stan and Sid (this morning we decided it stands for Super Idiotic Dog) have been bouncing around all the more and having fun with Milo. I have been off work so they have got to play more and I have had the dubious pleasure of seeing T, though her taste in hats leaves me blinded by the brightness and old fashioned thing that looks like a Day-Glo bird on acid has shit on her head. But as always a big hello to her, and a tiny peck on her frozen cheek.
Same time next week? Okay cool see you here then,, will pine for you in the meantime.
